On 2nd December 2025, the students of the B.B.A. Department at D.R.K. College of Commerce, Kolhapur, had an enriching learning experience during their industrial visit to the Jyotirling Jaggery Manufacturing Unit (Gurhal) on Vadange–Nigave Road. Guided by HOD Dr. Benade Ma’am, Mrs. M. N. Mahadik Ma’am, Mr. Pratik Bhasme Sir and Miss Patil Ma’am, the visit offered an in-depth look into the traditional process of jaggery production—right from extracting and filtering sugarcane juice to boiling, clarifying, thickening, molding, drying, and finally packaging the jaggery. The unit’s staff explained every stage with clarity, enabling the students to gain a practical understanding of how raw sugarcane is transformed into high-quality jaggery. Curious and enthusiastic, the students interacted actively, asking questions related to production techniques, quality control, cost factors, and market demand. This hands-on experience strengthened their academic learning, enhanced their entrepreneurial outlook, and offered a valuable insight into the functioning of rural agro-based industries. The department extends heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Sanjay Dinde for his warm support and for allowing the students to explore the complete production process up close.
