On 5th December 2025, the B.B.A. Department of D.R.K. College of Commerce, Kolhapur, organized an enlightening Guest Lecture on “Introduction to Statistical Thinking: Descriptive vs. Inferential Statistics”. The lecture was delivered by Mrs. Sneha Kamble (M.Sc. Statistics), an expert in the field, and was attended by enthusiastic students along with HOD Dr. Seema Benade Ma’am and Mrs. M. N. Mahadik Ma’am.
During the session, Mrs. Kamble explained the two main types of statistics in simple and easy-to-understand terms. She described how descriptive statistics summarize and organize data, while inferential statistics help in making predictions and informed decisions. The lecture included practical examples and illustrations that made the concepts more relatable and understandable for the students. A key feature of the lecture was the interactive session, where students asked questions and clarified their doubts about statistical concepts. This engagement helped them gain confidence in applying statistical methods in real-world scenarios. The guidance and encouragement provided by the faculty members further enriched the session, making it an effective and motivational learning experience.
Overall, the guest lecture successfully enhanced students’ understanding of statistics, strengthened their analytical thinking, and inspired them to explore the subject further, bridging the gap between theory and practical application.
