The MBA department has organised the Group Discussion Activity on Industry 4.0 and Manufacturing. Students discussed various points as Industry 4.0 represents the Fourth Industrial Revolution, driven by the integration of cyber-physical systems, AI, the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics into manufacturing. Participants highlighted that smart manufacturing enables real-time data analysis, predictive maintenance, and the creation of digital twins to optimize production lines and minimize downtime. Adopting these technologies dramatically reduces supply chain lead times and operational costs, heavily boosting global and regional competitiveness. The interconnectivity of machinery makes smart factories vulnerable to severe cyber threats, requiring robust security measures. The high capital expenditure required to overhaul legacy systems remains a significant barrier, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The session concluded as The GD consensus agreed that Industry 4.0 is no longer a visionary concept but an operational necessity. To remain competitive, manufacturing organizations must invest in employee training, phased digital integration, and cybersecurity.
