The Department of Economics has organized a Guest Lecture on “Addiction Recovery” on 24 June 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of addiction and the importance of leading a healthy and disciplined life. The programme commenced with the welcome and introduction of the resource person. Dr. Bhalchandra Kulkarni delivered an insightful lecture on the causes of addiction, its impact on physical and mental health, family relationships, and society. He emphasized the importance of self-control, positive thinking, healthy habits, and community support in overcoming addiction.The speaker also discussed preventive measures, counselling services, and rehabilitation techniques available for individuals struggling with substance abuse. Real-life examples and case studies were shared to motivate students to stay away from addictive substances and develop a responsible lifestyle.Students actively participated in the interactive session and raised several questions regarding addiction, recovery processes, and mental well-being. The resource person addressed their queries effectively and encouraged them to become ambassadors of a drug-free society. Dr.Vishvanath Magdum,Secretary Council of Education Kolhapur was president of this program and Principal Dr. Varsha Maindargi, Dr. R. S. Naik, Vice Principal and Head, Department of Economics Dr. S. F. Bothikar,Mr. K. D. Dinde,Mr. P. M. Sorate, Mr. S. K. Patil and 98 students were presented.
